Anthony,

Try putting "amateur radio" "packet" into google and you will get all sorts of sites. I think you will find the basic 1200 packet stuff is still good from 2000.

We have a packet radio on the mountain west of Frederick, the call is fdk or w3fdk-10 on 145.75 mHz.

Also, Dick, wn3r has a packet station a few miles north of ours and his is tied to winlink and that call is wn3r-10 and the frequency is 145.77 mHz.

My email is rolan.clark at comcast.net if I can be of further help.

Take care,

Hi, don't mean to break in on the topic here but, I just found the TNC connections diagram for my 2 meter radio (Alinco ALR-22T) and I am interested in getting into packet communications. Are there any good online (modern) references for packet? Everything I am googling seems to be pre-2000 and not geared towards the newbie... Any information that someone could send me would be great too...

  Thanks,

  Anthony

Note to Packet users, the N8YIB Western Maryland Packet network appears to be available from node FDK now. Connect to nodes FDK, then to WVLINE, and then to BBSYIB to access the N8YIB BBS.

Some Packet users depending on their location may be able to connect to node WVLINE direct, then to node ALLCO, and then to BBSYIB or connect to nodes WVLINE direct, then to node CUMB, and then to node BBSYIB. Try and use whatever works for you.

In addition to the N8YIB BBS, there are several DX Packetcluster nodes available from nodes WVLINE, CUMB, and ALLCO if you're into that.

Disclaimer. Your Packet performance may vary.

Still running a Packet net and ragchew on Saturday nights 9:00 p.m. on node FDK in "Talk Mode."

    Happy Holidays everyone.
