[FARC] FARC Meeting Reminder - 11/19/07

The November FARC meeting is coming up next Monday:

- Monday November 19th 2007, 7:00 PM, at the Independent Hose Company on 
Baughman's Lane.

This month's program will be a presentation by Rick Ogden N3RO on Ham 
Radio via the internet. 

Not so long ago there was widespread worry that the internet would be 
yet another "nail in the coffin" of Ham Radio, but just the opposite has 
proven to be the case.  In typical fashion, Hams have harnessed emerging 
technologies to expand the horizons of the Ham Radio hobby. 

Rick N3RO will describe what's needed for a Ham to "get on the air" with 
thousands of other Hams worldwide with only a computer and internet 
connection, as well as what's needed to create your own interface 
directly from an on-the-air rig to the internet.  The presentation will 
include a discussion of two popular software packages: EchoLink (free) 
and CQ100 (subscription), and include a demo of CQ100.
