Joseph,
The testing session at the Frederick Amateur Radio Club's Father's Day
Hamfest will start at 9:00 AM on Sunday, June 17th.

Pre-registration is encouraged. You can pre-register on the web at
http://cs.yrex.com/ve-regcc.htm

The session is held in Building 13 at the Frederick County Fairgrounds,
which is at 797 E. Patrick St. in Frederick.

The ARRL VEC testing fee is $14.00, due at the test session. Best to
bring a check, although cash is acceptable. Credit cards are not
accepted.

The VEC testing fee is separate from the Hamfest admission donation of
$6.00, which gets you into the Hamfest and gets you into the drawings
for door prizes and the main Ham Radio equipment prizes. Be sure to get
your ticket stub into the drawing barrel as soon as you can so that
you're in the running for all the drawings. You probably already know
this, but proceeds from the Hamfest support the Frederick Amateur Radio
Club's educational and public service activities, including a Club
scholarship administered through the Foundation for Amateur Radio.

To apply for your Technician license, you'll need to show positive photo
identification, such as a current driver's license, military ID or
passport, or in lieu of that, two other forms of identification such as
a library card plus bills addressed to you, etc. You'll need to know
your SSN in order to complete the license application forms. Blank
forms will be available at the test session.

If you're not already doing so, I would encourage you to take as many
free practice exams as you can between now and the Hamfest, via the
qrz.com web site, http://www.qrz.com/p/testing.pl . The randomized
exams are fine, but it also helps to just plow through the whole
question pool to ensure that you're up to speed for the real thing.

If you have any other questions or concerns, you can reach me at
301-831-5060 or by email at k9cmr at arrl.net, or feel free to post
questions to the group here on the reflector.

73, Bob K9CMR
