Joe,
All the best with your new call!  And don't worry about the old N3PAQ.  
I've heard that the FCC has a contract with BFI to recycle old 
callsigns, so it WILL live on in some form, don't worry! 

I *am* curious as to why you chose NE3R over any of the others that 
might have been available.  Was it the 2x1 vs. the old 1x3, or maybe the 
Morse Code rhythm, or ??? 

I clearly recall that I was VERY glad to get rid of my original 
FCC-issued T+ call (N3VZE) when the vanity callsign system started back 
in the last century.  "N3VZE" was a beast to say and understand in 
voice, and it was even worse in CW, at least with my skills.  The 
opportunity to grab my late brother's old call didn't get a whole lot of 
contemplative thought, both for sentimental and practical reasons....
