Hello,
I like to contest - & normally I truck off with a group of hams from Montgomery, PG, and southern MD.
At this time, I find that the group is going to St. Michaels, by sail boat (I have been on this boat and had a bad experience - you ain't gonna find me on this boat again), early Saturday morning.
My XYL has just informed me that we have a family engagement Saturday morning, and therefore I can't start contesting till sometime in the afternoon.
Therefore, I am LQQKING for 1 other ham that might like to go ROVING. If the weather is nice we can campout ((I have a sleeping bag, camp stove (with cooking utensils, and we could make a modified tent)), and if not find some comercial shelter.
I know that this is short notice, but it might be good experience for someone that wants to hone their skills in WEAK signal communications, and what it sounds like when everybody is talking at the same time (SSB). We DO NOT use repeaters, BUT if you have a mobile or portable rig (50w or so) and a portable antenna, you could bring that and WE could make some FM contacts on the simplex frequencies. If you do not normally use SSB this could be a good learning experience.
Power will be supplied by my 1500 w AC generator and some batteries.
If you are interested - give me a shout or send me an email before Thursday 5pm.
