Subject: Ham events next week!
Here are a couple of events next week sponsored by the Frederick Amateur
Radio Club that are open to members and non-members alike:
1. Guest Speaker - Tom Coates N3IJ will speak on the upcoming Maryland
legislation that relates to community covenants and amateur antennas at the
regular FARC Jan. 16th meeting. We meet at 7PM at the Animal Control
building on Rosemont Ave. Tom spoke to MARC last month, and this is your
opportunity to hear what he has to say here in Frederick. If you need
directions, visit our site at www.qsl.net//k3erm.
2. Museum Visit - We have arranged for a guided tour of the Historical
Electronics Museum in Linthicum next Saturday, Jan 21st, for Frederick area
hams and friends. Everyone who has been there gives it rave reviews. We will
meet to carpool at the gas station end of the Frederick Costco parking lot.
Rendezvous time is 0945, and we will plan to leave at 1000. You can enjoy
breakfast before the trip with the Madxra folks at the Myersville Fire Hall
beginning at 0800, make your own transportation arrangements, or just plan
to meet us at Costco. The museum is open that day from 1000 to 1400, there
is no admission charge, and you can check out their web site at
www.hem-usa.org for more information and directions. If the weather looks
iffy, we will post a go/no go notice on the FARC site (see above) by 0800,
or give a shout on the 147.060+ Madxra repeater. Please let me know by
Friday if you plan to attend so that I can let the museum folks know how
many to expect from our group.
Also, a field trip is being planned to the new Air and Space Museum Annex at
Dulles in Feb. (details to follow).
Again, both of these activities are open to everyone. Please contact me if
you have any questions.

Jeff Fishman KB3FIO
