Subject: J pole workshop @ FARC meeting

Greetings All,

This is an announcement that the Frederick Amateur Radio Club meetings are
moving to the third Monday of the month and will be held at the Animal
Control Building, 1832 Rosemont Ave., Frederick, at 7 PM. Both members and
visitors are welcome.

The program this month (March 21) is a J pole demonstration and workshop to
be conduced by Phil Karras KE3FL. Phil is an authority in the field and has
had articles published in QST. He will show us how to construct a remarkably
simple but effective 2M and 70CM roll-up J pole antenna from 300 ohm ladder
line. J poles are very efficient and are the higher gain and easily deployed
antenna of choice for emcomm or in-the-field use (see this month's issue of
QST). You can observe, or construct one on the spot. If you choose the
latter, plan on bringing 6' of 300 ohm ladder line, 10-20' of RG-58 coax,a
BNC connector for the RG-58, and heat shrink tubing to protect the
connections. We will have at least two antenna analyzers on hand for tuning.

This should be very enjoyable and educational, and again, everyone is
welcome. If you would like to see how these things are designed, visit
Phil's site at www.qsl.net/ke3fl. Hope to see you there!

73,

Jeff Fishman KB3FIO
