All members of Frederick Amateur Radio Club:
This is a reminder that the next meeting of the FARC will be at 7PM on
Tuesday 1/14/03 (2'nd Tuesday of month) at the Frederick Animal Shelter on
Rosemont Avenue. There will be at least 3 extremely important issues to be
resolved at this meeting.
1 The election of new officers
2 The change of meeting location
3 The change of meeting night (if the location is changed)
The FARC is looking at several officer changes in the coming year. PLEASE
ATTEND THIS MEETING
For the past several months the club has been discussing moving to the Civil
Air Patrol building near the Frederick Airport. There is a motion on the
floor (from the November meeting) to be voted on in January. Should the club
decide to move to the CAP building, it will be necessary to change our
meeting night, as the 2'nd Tuesday of each month is in conflict with the CAP
meetings. There have been a number of very good discussions concerning a
move. There are a number of positive points for the move. I don't think
there were any negative points, except there would be a cost involved.
Currently we are not charged for the use of the Animal Shelter. If any
member has questions concerning the move, I'd be happy to discuss them.
Please call me at home (301-662-6557).
There have also been discussions concerning the change of the meeting night
from the current 2'nd Tuesday. One of the positive comments to make a change
is to allow members of the FARC who also participate with RACES to be
involved in the monthly drills that are scheduled on the same night. As
mentioned above, if the change is voted to move to the CAP, a change in the
meeting night is a requirement.
Due to a commitment that I cannot change, I will not be able to attend the
January meeting of the club. I will state through this communications that I
fully support the change of meeting location to the CAP building and its
subsequent required change of meeting nights.
Jim Ridgley (N3HTA), President FARC
