[FARC] New in Frederick and Needing Help

I'm new in Frederick, and looking for help. I passed Novice and Technician exams in Dallas in 1978 (currently WD5BCL), and understand now that I can move up to General simply by filing for it. I've secured the necessary confirming paperwork, but don't know where to go from here. I've been out of hamming since the early 80's when YF and I started our family. The kids are grown and gone now, and I'm ready to get back into amateur radio again. I've picked up a small 2M HT, but have no equipment otherwise. In fact, since I bought the HT used, I haven't been able to raise a single contact locally, so I wonder just how good of a deal I received. Anyway, it's time to start all over with a station again, and I'm looking for used gear from anyone in the club. Lastly, I'm interesting in joining the FARC. Too bad you changed the handle from FARTS; that was cute. Awaiting your reply, Tom
