Subject: Official Nov. 9th Foxhunt Announcement
Date: 23-Sep-02 at 09:56
From: INTERNET:[email protected]

Folks,

Those of you who are involved in clubs please be sure the announce-
ment (below) gets forwarded to club members ASAP.

Can someone help with simple ("no value") prizes for the afternoon
hunt? Like 1st, 2nd, 3rd place?

I'll plan to hide the fox in the morning. Will someone volunteer
to be the hider in the afternoon? Maybe someone who is familiar
with the area?

Freq. issues: Does anyone local to York Co. know of a good rptr to
use for talk-in? Is there any local conflict with using 147.550Mhz
for the fox freq?

Lastly, would everyone please QSL this e-mail?

Thanks! - John N3NFO

There is a 2m foxhunt (transmitter hunt) planned for Saturday,
Nov. 9th at Codorus SP near Hanover, PA. Two hunts will be held
during the course of the day, one in the morning and one in the
afternoon. Hunters are welcome to participate in either or both
events as their personal schedules allow.

The morning hunt will be for a small, automated 2m transmitter
with an output power of 300mW. The hunt area will be limited to
the boundaries of the park, and it's highly likely a good portion
of the hunting will be on-foot. Portable direction finding equip-
ment is recommended.

The afternoon hunt will be be for a higher power manned 2m trans-
mitter, such as a mobile rig in a car. For this hunt the search
area will be much larger (area boundaries will be announced before
the start of the hunt).

For both hunts, the meeting location will be the Codorus SP office.
The office is on PA Rt. 216 on the west side of Lake Marburg. The
morning hunt will start at 10:00 AM; plan to arrive at the park
office around 9:30-9:45.  The afternoon hunt will start at 2:00 PM;
plan to arrive at the office around 1:30-1:45.

Talk-in frequency will be 146.520 Mhz simplex. The fox transmitter
freq. will be 147.550 Mhz.

If you are interested in participating in this event, please drop me
a line at

[email protected]

so I can get you "on the list" for future info updates. Also, if
you need directions to the park office I can provide them.

73, John N3NFO
