Last week was really tough.Hal went back to the hospital for 3 days to
fight off an infection/pneumonia. He is back at College View (Nursing
Home), but has been moved up to room 208. It seems that he is finally
beginning to get back to the cognitive level he had at the first week
after his stroke. They have been unable to do any therapy with him
since he was non-responsive to any verbal commands.

I really don't know what to expect in the way of recovery - if
anything. I appreciate visits since it helps stimulate parts of his
brain I can't adequately reach - the first drawback to not being a Ham
in 32 years. (Ha! Ha!) The nurses say that his "talk" and hand
movements are actually his brain trying to "work" - so I must assume
that appropriate stimulation would be helpful. It is VERY frustrating
trying to communicate with someone who just isn't participating in the
same conversation.
