Drill Information (from text)

The CVARC and RACES have been asked to provide communications support for an
upcoming disaster drill. The local Hospitals are staging a mock chemical
leak on Saturday, September 7th in the Greencastle area.
We will probably need about 12-15 hams to help us. This will be involving
both the disaster site, EOC, both hospitals, and possibly some other
locations.
As with all our drills, this one is open to any licensed Ham.
This is an excellent opportunity for all of us to sharpen our skills and
perhaps even learn something new (myself included).
If you can help, and will be available on that day, please let me know. I
would like to get a count of how many we will have available.

Date: Saturday, September 7th 2002
Time: 9am to noon? (it could possibly run over) (be in place or on scene by
8 to 815am)
Location:Greencastle PA
Frequencies:147.120 repeater and/or 146.505 Other frequencies will be
announced as needed.

This is the latest drill update (N3QBI)
DISASTER DRILL
UPDATED INFORMATION (as of 8/12/02)

After consideration, I have decided to list the positions that we will be
setting up. If you wish to be assigned to a particular spot, let me know.

Right now, this list may be expanded, as we get closer to the drill date.

Here is the partial list (with the minimum number of personnel required and
the calls of those who have already been assigned to that spot):

EOC (Franklin County Courthouse): 2 persons needed:N3LJP Bill,KB3HUC Dave

Incident Command Post (2-3 persons needed): KB3HOP Jerry,??,??

Waynesboro Hospital (3 persons minimum):

Chambersburg Hospital (3 persons minimum):

Rescue Hose Company, Greencastle (1 person):

Net Control (1 person):

Link to Harrisburg (via either HF or 2 meters): (this can be someone from
their 'home' station who can access both 80/40m HF and access one or more
Harrisburg area repeaters)

Others who hve volunteered to help (but we have not assigned positions
yet):N3YMY, Eric;N3TCR, William; N3JDR, Bill

I would also like to have 2 or 3 persons on standby in case another site has
to be activated at
the request of the Incident Commander.
This list is only partially completed. After the next meeting of the Drill
Committee, I should have a better idea of what other places we will be set
up in. My estimate of the total number of Hams needed is high, but I would
rather have too much help than not enough.

TACTICAL CALLSIGNS

In line with what other ARES/RACES groups are doing, we are going to start
using tactical callsigns more. Below is a list of tactical calls that have
been set up so far:

Waynesboro Hospital "Waynesboro Hospital"
Chambersburg Hospital "Chambersburg Hospital"
Incident Command "Command"
County EOC "EOC"
Shelter at Greencastle "Greencastle Shelter"
Net Control "Net Control"

franklin County Emergency Net FREQUENCIES:

146.505 VHF1
146.535 VHF2
446.050 UHF1
446.100 UHF2

Primary Repeater:147.120
Secondary Repeater:147.225

I think we will try to conduct operations on the VHF1 frequency (146.505).
If it is not possible for all stations to hear each other, then traffic will
be shifted to the 147.120 or 147.225 repeaters.

We will pass along updates as we get the information. Right now, the drill
is still in the planning stages, and is subject to change.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me anytime. You can email
me [email protected] or call 717-369-3130

Thanks
