Hmm, this only went out to Bud... Was to go to all.
One observation as far as moving forward speed wise.
Most of the network is now based on FPAC, FPAC is
based on Linux and it of course has a fill IP stack, that
is how we so the connections over wired links. It would
not be a big step to moving to high speed data using
the FPAC boxes as the interface, you keep the old low
speed for the hangers on, but start adding high speed
interfaces for those who want to move that direction.
The big thing is the radios. But there are several sol-
utions to that too, probably the biggest issue will be
finding subscriber units (user radios) that you can
crank the power up on and still have enough battery
to be able to use it for a reasonable amount of time.
Ubiquity makes off the shelf radios that will work in
the 2.4, 3.4 and 5,6Ghz bands. I understand that there
are hacks to obtain full band coverage in the amateur
part for 2.4 (lower end) and 5.6 (upper end). There are
other manufacturers as well. With the Ubiquity radios
the unit of interest is the M3.
