Gentlemen,
I would like to point out one thing since this is getting way out of
hand, and this is from a point of view from a reader of this listserv
only.
We are here to serve the public and Department of Management Services
(DEM) in the time of disaster with whatever means possible of last mile
communications in the event the loss of governmental and commercial
communications systems. If we had taken all the time that has been lost
writing these emails and put it towards our infrastructure instead of
being at odds with each other we would accomplish a lot. Please focus
on the mission. Our image to our served agencies must reflect a
professional, quality, service minded and goal oriented view to continue
to be the last mile communications.
As a Regional SERT Communications Leader, I would much rather say I am
used Amateur Radio to get the message out since I am a ham instead of
walking out of my Incident Commanders vehicle and plugging my laptop in
to a National Guard RERN and sending the ham home, both will work, which
will be chosen?
If there is a need for workshop or workshops to discuss developments or
improvements of these different systems, they can be created via web
conference and at our hamfests in a civil, intellectual manner. I would
be very glad to sit down and discuss different solutions but please be
respectful of the people's efforts in the decades of work and service
here.
Thank you,
Phil Royce KE4PWE
