Way to go, Barry!

Don't forget - as we discussed earlier on the telephone -

if we could get the Orlando Linux FPAC switch located in Orange county
(rather than at My QTH in Deltona) all this would work with the
Florida Layered Packet Network which is already in place. I am
prepared to add 9.6kb UHF user LAN to Orlando as soon as it is moved
or there are users within range who want it.

We now have 9.6kb backbones working from "Orlando" to DeLand to DAB to
STA to Orange Park and each of those sites has a 1200b 2M user LAN.
It is an open network for anyone to use for any purpose.

DeLand also has a 9.6 kb user LAN on 446.550, and I'm prepared to put
a 9.6kb UHF user LAN at Daytona Beach site (220 ft on the beach at
Ormond with antenna in place as soon as there are users to use it.

If the Orlando site were 20 miles further south we would have full RF-
and internet- connected layered network to include Melbourne and
southward and Orlando through to Orange Park. We are building out
from Orange park westward.

It also supports WL2K e-mail over ham radio access with Telpac
Gateways and/or RMS Packet stations along the way. There are several
city and county EOCs presently on the network.

While you are fee to do what ever you want - it would be a shame to be
building two networks when there are so few people using any of them!

  Subject: UHF Packet Frequencies approved!!!!!!

  Friends,

I am proud to announce that both our 441.050 and 445.050
frequencies have been APPROVED by the coordination group.

This gives us dedicated packet space on UHF. My thanks to all who
participated in the trial runs.

For now we will have the mailbox N2DB-2 on 445.050 @ 9600 baud.

We now have a 9600 baud setup for people to work and test with.

Think about it. Between us a club and members we must have at least
15+ D-700's or D-710's.

They are all capable of UHF 9600 baud packet, while retaining full
VHF voice capability.

In case of a real emergency these dedicated frequencies WILL be
available for shelter duty!

When Dean gets back, we will get together and decide which one will
be the primary frequency.

My initial plan is for 445.050's use as our local channel, with
441.050 as a possible backbone later to Daytona Beach.

Daytona Beach is already on 441.050. John, you might want to add
these frequencies to your D-700 program list.

I will continue pursuing an X1J4 Node (Sedan with chat room
function.) at 9600 baud.

                          Thanks again for your support!!!

                                                           Barry N2Db
