Bud,
Bud,
Yes same TNCs including AGWPE and AGWPE on a remote computer.
Telpac will continue to work (including Linux Telpac). We recommend that
they be pointed to the new CMS Telnet servers (you can do that today if you
want to test it)
Settings: sandiego.winlink.org port#: 8772 PW: CMSTelnet
Perth.winlink.org port# 8772 PW: CMSTelnet
Washington.winlink.org port# 8772 PW: CMSTelnet (temporarily
off line)
When using the CMSTelnet servers there is virtually no message latency
(typically 3-6 minutes with a PMBO Telnet server). Everything else should be
the same...Keyboard will work but is not encouraged.
Telpac gateways that are on a full time IP connection and those running Win
2000 or later should switchover to RMS Packet once released. Those that
have dialup or insist on running Win 98 or ME will have to use Telpac. I
plan to come up with an update to Telpac that will report status to the WL2K
servers similar to RMS Packet. With RMS Packet the user will not have to
register, enter or maintain any info on the Telpac or RMS Website...all this
done automatically including hourly status WL2K update and 30 minute APRS
updates for each port and frequency used. The idea here is packet users can
use the WL2K web site, the WL2K_PACKET inquiry or the local APRS repeater to
get up-to-the- minute accurate info on all WL2K Packet gateways.
Eventually the current PMBO code will be replaced:
RMS Packet for packet ports
RMS Pactor for Pactor ports (uses SCS PTC IIs only...no KAM+ etc)
RMS Hubbing/Pactor bridge (new module not yet named) that will optionally
in emergency situations bridge a RMS Packet that has lost internet
connectivity via HF Pactor bridge to a RMS Pactor site with internet
connectivity.
Schedule...RMS Packet within a month...now limited alpha testing but looking
good.
RMS Pactor ...maybe 2 months or so.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have questions.

Thanks, Rick-
Will RMS Packet work with the same TNCs as Telpac - including AGW PE
if desired?
Will existing Telpac Gateways still work or will a change have to be
made to RMS?
