I only brought up the DStar thing because I want to consolidate
the amount of equipment I have to work with.

Since a DSTAR gateway uses Linux OS to drive the connectivity portions,
why not have a tie in with FPAC?? I have been reading most of the threads
thou between my laptop and home server, I have some what become detached
from a few comments...

Me personally, being able to access a FPAC node that is, of course,
connected to the internet, no harm no foul. Just have to take the
learning curve and apply it to DSTAR technology... Rather it's a com port
interface (but not really needed being the nic card for the dstar controller
is on eth1 and in promiscuous mode) that will be able to cipher
what packet is being sent to the server and has an id similar to the
FPAC id hence <call sign> F <in dstar 8 characters to complete the callsign
and suffix>
i.e.: KD4EFM_F (underscore equals space)

not rocket science but does involve some degree of program know how....

MY RANT, MY TWO CENTS
Enjoy the day and lets keep Digital communications on the roll!

Evans
