[FADCA] Linux TelPac

Are you sure the problem is not related to the recent changes of no-ip.com?

As I understand it no-ip.com (which virtually all PBMOs running Telnet
Servers used to resolve dynamic IP addresses) now requires a paid
subscription to continue the .com domains (other domains like .org are still
free but require periodic updates or verifications).

If any PMBOs are listed on the Telpac have no-ip.com domains and those
accounts have not been updated they will not resolve.

The test is easy...bring up a DOS window or the equivalent Linux and do a
ping to the friendly IP address e.g. Ping kn6kb.no-ip.com
A successful resolution to the dynamic address and ping reply indicates all
is OK...Other wise you will have to modify the addresses.

KN6KB currently is registered for kn6kb.no-ip.com and kn6kb.no-ip.org
Both should work.

Thanks Bud. Charlie got in contact with me.

Seems it's XP. We had 3 nodes running up here and something happened
after one of the MS updates. Seems the user can connect but get's a "dirty
disconnect" from the node but the node itself still thinks the user is
connected and runs the CPU up 100%. That is from Don's, W2DSW, node. I'm
not sure what the other two are experiencing but I know that they started
having problems as well. These nodes where operating fine for about 6
months at least before all the strange happenings.

I have a telpac install on a Win2000 box that has been offline for
quite sometime and I'm going to see if that is still working. We are
trying to get ready for a Red Cross exercise this weekend.

Still want to try the linux version and see how that compares. I know
that the OS is definately more stable [GRIN]
