No, actually after we get the switch operation down that  would be a logical
step because we could reduce the need for TNC's. It also demands faster
machines than some of those we are now using, but not blazing fast, part-
icularly if no gui is running. A stereo card can handle two radio ports and
if the machine has the speed you can add more cards for more radio ports.

There are soft modems for all forms of modulation and speed, up to I think
19k2 (maybe a bit faster depending on the speed of the card, of course if
you use one of the really fast cards you can go even faster) again it also
depends of course on the bw of the radio.
