BUD, and all.... (you to Loren... ;) )

The new tower is being built where the node will be
residing. It is a hurry up and wait kinda thing and
the rule book I have to play with was written by
Polk Emerg. Management....

The computer is still here at my house, just have
to wait for the green light to move it to it's new
location.

Evans

Hi Bud: I am still "packetless" here in Poinciana (Solivita). I have
been looking and can hear "stuff", APRS, on 144.390. Sure hope the guys get
the switch up in Bartow. Is there anything, maybe new, in the area which I
may be able to connect in my area? I have a good 2 meter/440 beam at 35
feet. I also have an SCS PTC-II and am very active with Pactor III on 20
meters. To get ready, can you please re-send the method to communicate thru
the system.......Thanks again.

Hi, Loren - Good to hear from you again - I don't see K9YCG on the WL2K
list - Do you use the SCS PTC-II on the Winlink system? You might try my
PMBO on 80m or 40 m daytime!

Sorry to be so late getting back to you - been busy with network stuff and
now have to fix my sister in law's computer! Har.

Here in the Orlando area - On 145.070 1200 baud

Try the following to see if you can reach either of these . . .

C W4MCO-10

That is a WL2K telpac node - as a keyboarder just wait until you get the
final BBS type prompt -; it will look something like this

N5SN VIA W4MCO-10 DE K4CJX >

then do a B for BYE to get off. W4MCO-10 is located at the Orange County
EOC which is south of UCF. The antenna there is 200++ feet so is likely
your best choice for a while. . . There is no digipeater there, but I'm
hoping that will be set up soon as that would get you to the Orlando network
switch N4PLZ-8/9 (which is still at my house - 20 miles too far north!)

The next thing to try is this

C N4PLZ-8 v AEOC

AEOC is a digi at the Altamonte Springs EOC and the antenna there is about
150 ft agl I believe.

If successful, you will be on the Orlando Linux FPAC node at my place - AEOC
gets here just fine. If successful it will look like this:

You are connected to the N4PLZ-9 Linux FPAC Node

    Located in Orlando, Fla [EL98jn]

This is currently in the TEST Phase

FPAC-Node v 3.25 (F6FBB - Jul 12 2005) for LINUX (help = h)

N4PLZ-8 (Commands = ?) :

All this is just to see if you can get into the network.

We are still hoping to find a more appropriate site for the Orlando switch,
but nothing has materialized in more than five years.

I'm not up to date on the Bartow switch - have not seen any information for
several months - I'll also send this note to the fadca at mailman list and see
if we can get an update.

Let me know what you learn - we may need to talk on the phone Loren -to
Loren!
