The Orange County (Orlando) ARES sponsored W4MCO-10 Telpac node is now
operational on the Orlando LAN 145.07. Antenna height there is awesome
providing a welcomed extension of the LAN from the site in Deltona well into
Orange County. This morning (early in the dark!) the following stations
could be worked in a Wide Area Network sense on 145.07.
W4MCO-10 Winter Park/Orlando
K4FC X1J node Eustis (Lake County)
N4PLZ-8/9 FPAC (Orlando LAN) in Deltona
W4IZ-5 X1J node Jacksonville
W4MCO-10 could be worked from each of those sites.
K4FC could be worked from each of those sites.
N4PLZ could copy W4IZ-5 but W4IZ-5 could not hear N4PLZ
With the antenna height at both W4MCO and K4FC E. Central Florida coverage
will have been extended well across Lake County. When K4FC can be converted
to an FPAC node and moved to a dedicated LAN frequency the WAN will be
significantly reduced and activity on the Orlando and Eustis LANs will be
more efficient. The Eustis LAN should be able to link to the DeLand LAN (W.
Volusia County) via UHF backbone. Currently the Orlando, DeLand, Daytona
Beach, and St. Augustine FPAC/ROSE sites provide total coverage in Seminole,
Volusia, and most of Flagler and St. Johns Counties.
