Hello everyone. Just want to tell you a little bit about myself. I graduated
from UCF this past spring with a degree in Information Technology. While
going to school, I was the Technical Director for the Internet radio station
on campus. We had a few Linux servers running different apps (some of which
I wrote) as well as some Windows machines. Right now, I am working at the
City of Edgewater in the MIS department. There, I run a few Linux servers to
host databases, web sites and to function as a spam mail filter. I also have
a Linux server at home that runs this email address, a web site, database,
audio streaming and a few others. I've been licensed for just over ten
years. I've actually just got into packet radio within the past month (PK88
that I got on EBay), but have quite an extensive knowledge of networking, so
I understand the concepts and how it works. I've been tinkering with Linux
for quite some time, so I'm pretty comfortable with it. The distribution
that I am most familiar with is Debian. I hope that I can get a Winlink and
Telpac system setup for the City and surrounding community and be useful on
this project. I've got my TNC and radio (Alinco DJ180T HT @5W) running on
145.050 most of the time.

Jack, glad to be introduced here. Charlie k4gbb has been working on getting
the CD up and running, he has made a LOT of headway. I have been sort of
highjacked due to having lost my job and now looking at a new job that will
probably take me out of the area for months at a time so I am trying to get
as much in order around here as I can so that my wife will not have to deal
with a lot of wierd stuff that I handle with no problem.

I have a Linux FPAC switch running here at home it also have a TelPac app
running on it (there is a linux TelPac which runs quite nicely with Linux
FPAC.
Indeed using the TelPac app with Linux FPAC makes access to it even easier
as you can set the network up to route the connection to the nearest TelPac
and also you can have it user both a call like kp4djt-10 (my telpac call) or
in my case a connect to "telpac" will get you the application, the FPAC
app steps in and routes the call to telpac to the telpac app giving the
telpac
a dual (actually more if you wanted to) face...
