To: All interested in packet/digital operations in Florida:

I'm trying to compile a more complete e-mail list for FADCA members and
others who are interested in packet operations - please pardon me if you
receive duplicate messages as you may be on more than one of the several
lists I'm trying to combine! For those who did not receive the original
announcement of a quarterly meeting to discuss some of our interesting
topics, I've included that message BELOW this note. I encourage you to plan
on attending the meeting - but I'll need a response by e-mail in order to
make arrangements.

                    QUARTERLY MEETING UPDATE -

Nothing cast in concrete yet - not even certain we'll have a Quarterly
meeting, but I've had ELEVEN positive responses so far and they are zeroed
in on the April 30 date - so keep that date open for a while.

For those who have not yet responded, it looks like April 30 is the most
probable date if we have a meeting. I'd sure like to have another five or
ten responses to ensure having at least 15 in attendance.

My opinion is that if we have a total of 15 people who actually commit I
should go ahead with the planning.

Summary of 11 responses -

April 23 - 7 can attend
April 30 - 11 can attend
May 7 - 7 can attend.

TOPICS - Nothing cast in concrete there yet, if 10-15 of the 'regulars'
attend, we'll find plenty to talk about and I can put a clear agenda
together and leave plenty of time for general discussions.

What I'd like to see is some new-to-packet folks attend. We could make this
an opportunity for some of those who are seriously interested in learning
how to get on packet/digital or get their area(s) into the Florida Layered
Packet to get some real help and make some contacts.

What about each person who plans on attending bringing another interested
ham or served agency person with him? Maybe a car full! Please let me know
as soon as possible if you could/will bring others with you.

ORIGINAL ANNOUNCMENT

At the February FADCA meeting (Hamcation 2005) I was directed to establish a
general FADCA meeting/get together in the Orlando area for late April. I
can set this up, but do not want to spend time doing so unless the meeting
will be reasonably well-attended. The possible dates are:

Saturday April 23
Saturday April 30
Saturday May 7

I will be 'out of pocket' essentially after May 12 for a month.

I just heard from President Bill Sinbine N4XEO that he will be out of pocket
"soon for five weeks".

I will need a quick straw poll on what dates (1st, 2nd choice) would be best
for those who are interested. Also need some guidance on agenda items of
interest. I have no special agenda for the meeting but perhaps through the
e-mail reflector we can develop a worthwhile agenda with two or three
individuals taking responsibility for leading/presenting topics.

My current projects here in E. Central Florida include

1. Getting the Daytona Beach ROSE backbone to St. Augustine back on the air.
2, Putting together and configuring a DOS FPAC computer for KA0OXH to
install at Clermont
3. Getting the Orlando Switch moved to the new location.
4. Getting the Melbourne FPAC switch back on the air.

With luck, all these will be complete by May 1st.

Other topics I am interested in include - Getting more Telpac Nodes
established on the LANs, getting more ARES folks on Paclink AGW or Airmail,
and LINUX FPAC.

So, please take time now to indicate the following via e-mail:

I am interested in a meeting or I am not interested at this time.

If interested please indicate:

The #1 and #2 best dates for me are (from the above three)-
I would like to have one of the following two topics presented-
I am willing to lead the discussion on the following topics-
