We have a closet full of Maxar 80s and their sisters Moxys. (Basic same
radio.) Only a few are the 2w units, the rest are 25w. The Maxar 80 is the
first radios I started doing 9.6kb conversions for (in Las Vegas) before I
'graduated' to Mitreks which are a lot easier to work with. There is also a
conversion for replacing the IF crystals in the Maxars for making them
wider-band, just like the Mitreks. Do you have any idea of the BER you are
attaining with the Maxar 50s?

I've (perhaps temporarily) put the Maxars/Moxys aside in favor of the
Mitreks, but might have to go back and take another look if our network is
going to move more sites to 9.6kb.

If you can get 25w out of them for our service they should do 30-35 miles
with reasonable "I can see you too" antennas. We are only running the
Mitreks at 35-40 so far but plan on having 60-70 for links over 30-35 miles.
