I recommend all Telpac nodes in Florida adopt the ssid -10. -10 is becoming
a national standard of sorts... it will be best for EMCOMMs if all Telpac
nodes in the state -and in the country use the same ssid.

If you have a Telpac node that is not -10, to change it you will need to
visit

http://winlink.org/status/

Click on Telpac status

When the list of Telpac nodes appears, find your Telpac Node and click on
EDIT

You will have to enter your call (w/o ssid) and your WL2K password.

Simply put your Telpac call with ssid -10 in the first replacement field, go
to the bottom of the form and click

UPDATE

then click

CLOSE.

While you are at it, you might check the information you have in the
remaining fields and be sure it is still current.

I'm not sure how long it will take for the change to be official - I tested
this morning moving from -7 to -10 and either one still worked! However,
only -10 was listed. I then changed back to -7 for the time being.

I suggest you make the change as soon as possible but not before giving
reasonable notice to those who have been using your Telpac.

BACKGROUND - When I first started beta testing Telpac two years ago, I
selected ssid -7 because those who have their calls on FPAC switches in
Florida cannot use SSIDS -1 through -6 and the default sysop FPAC ssid
is -10 (or at least that is what mine was!) That left 11 - 15, and -14
and -15 are used by some network schemes for temporary management purposes.
I then advised those installing Telpac nodes in Florida to use the
'standard' -7!

Since then, the WL2K community of more than 500 Telpacs has generally
adopted -10 as the common SSID for Telpac nodes. While not all on the
current list indicate so, many on the list are likely no longer active!
