What I decided to do was hold two separate, but very related sessions.
1. For "locals" (i.e. those who could drive less than an hour or so to get
here - This is generally the East Central Florida Counties - ) who may want
to get (back) on packet but might not otherwise be attracted to a highly
technical workshop on networking.
2. For the general FADCA involved group who have been working on the
networking stuff and E-mail Over Ham radio already.
Yeah.. 0800 for the HANDS-ON WORKSHOP for 'locals' who don't have to drive
far.. unless there are folks who really want to get there at 0800 after
driving three two or three hours or more in the dark. We'll start the more
FADCA-oriented stuff at 1000... giving those a hundred or two hundred miles
away an easier drive while awake! I think the W. Palm Beach group will take
three plus hours to get here. The drive from Tallahassee might best be made
the night before!
The other idea was to hold the hands-on workshop late - say 1500-1700 but
that would have long distant drivers have to get here by 0900 or so to start
the FADCA stuff early enough to get it all squeezed in.
I was also concerned that if the locals who are not yet on packet had to sit
through all the more advanced stuff before getting the workshop they might
elect to not do that... This way there is a good chance we'll have five to
ten 'locals' at 0800 and after getting the intro with the software install,
might be more inclined to stick around for the network information.
