Since FPAC is just one more application running on the PC you could
have them reside in the same machine.

My experience is that I prefer to have them in separate machines,
that way you can do maintenance on one or the other and not pull
both of them off line.

In fact I prefer to have the BBS at home so I can work on it from
the console and link it to the switch over RF, but to each his
own torture.

You will find that I think we will be moving to a headless box that
has as few moving parts as possible and consumes as little power as
possible.

The next step in this after getting a working switch up and fully
on air operational is to get the IP parts working. That will allow
axip links to be set up so if there is internet connectivity at the
switch, we can have routing to other switches over IP if there is
not a RF path available or it is too long a path for reasonable and
timelly operations.

It is too bad that the satellite operations have just not worked out
a well placed satellite could be used to link a large network and
provide no more than 3 hops between any two points, and it would all
be RF.
