It looks like a IDE drive so you format it with the
OS that fits. In this case you can of course get DOS
in there or a small LINUX system. I am looking at the
one that is on the single floppy LINUX FPAC that we
got from Jean-Paul F6FBB. Once I started looking into
it, it is not as bad as it sounds. Probably with some
editing we could use the disk as is in our switch
sites as the Linux version I believe will run on any
machine 486 or above. It may even run on 386's.
Unlike DOS FPAC which has several files to be edited
when a site is set up, there is only one file that
you really need to edit. Though I think there is
a message file that needs to have the proper language
selected.
The page with the CF adaptor and cards offers a 265M
kit for $70, which all told is not at all bad considering
that you are eliminating all moving components.
By way FPAC is not a OS, it runs on top of a OS, the
old one we have every where is DOS based the new one
is LINUX based. By way the floppy has not only FPAC
but NetRom and IP in it so it can do all of those
protocols out of the bag.
If some others would format a floppy and start poking
at it maybe we can get some going and start the conversion.
