Okay, Virgil- Looks like Gary and Chuck are on the ball and may have you
running to the 144.91 switch Monday or so. In the process we need to be
sure you can get to the W4DPH BBS off that switch. (We are going to get this
packet NTS thing working yet!)
Now for some NTS stuff (most of which you likely already know.)
What you have in this group of traffic is a book of seven all going to
different zipcodes. If you were to list this as a book of seven on a phone
net you would have to break up the book into individual messages when
relaying to one or more other net members. The digital system has never
been set up to handle book form- only individual messages.
These particular messages are a form of hamspam, but we do use them as
fodder to keep the nets greased up. (There are some hamspam texts I do not
feel should be used, but we can go into that later!)
Here is what I suggest you do - first as a way of eventually getting these
on the digital system, and second as an exercise on how to set up such
messages. Let's use this group for practice - and they will ultimately get
delivered.
1. Review the article NTS MESSAGES ON THE DIGITAL NETWORKS at
http://www.fadca.org/n0ia_1.html
2. Put each of these seven message in the full form - in a single text
file. It is improtant that the following format be used starting with the
first line in the text file- no blank lines at the beginning of this file.
The file would start this way with the first NTS message-
ST 33037 @NTSFL
KEY LARGO 305 541 3038

FRIENDS AND GOOD TIMES AHEAD
X 73
BT
K1JPG
AR <<< use at the end of each NTS message
/EX << closes out the packet message and the BBS waits for the next
ST ZIPFIVE , etc, etc.
Be sure there are no blank lines between the /ex line and the next ST line
Note that the / in the /ex line must be in the first character space.
You will end up with all seven NTS messages in a single TEXT file.
3. Get on your KPC-3 PBBS locally (just connect to the MYPBBS call - no
radio required)
4. At the BBS prompt, using your terminal program, SEND the text file to
the PBBS. This will put all seven messages on your PBBS- unless there is a
problem with the format in your text file. This will be a good test to be
sure you have made the text file properly. You can Kill any of the messages
in the PBBS that are not proper (or kill them all), repair the text file and
try again. Once that text file is proper, all of those messges will be in
the PBBS ready to be transfered to W4DPH once we get that part working.
If you would like for me to review the text file - e-mail it to me.
Of course we eventually will not go to all this trouble practicing all this
once we get it working - and you have a network BBS to get to readily. But
meanhile, we'll learn how to get this set up.
Drop me an e-mail if you have any questions, or telephone if you like.
We'll have to set up the PBBS in the KPC-3 to autorforward those to W4DPH -
but won't want that to happen until we know the ZIPFIVE forwards at DPH are
set properly.

What switch/node call letters are you getting to in Arcadia? I don't show a
