Sub-Subject W4LX BBS - "Lee County BBS" (145.03)

What we are trying to do is determine what it will take for every 2M LAN to
have access to a BBS and to extend Layered Network coverage to BBSs that are
outside coverage of the Layered Network.

Thanks Doug KN4YT and KF4UTH for getting back with some information on the
W4LX BBS

Here is another note I see that might impact this discussion - from John
WB4MOZ:

". . . La Belle was installed mainly to get to Ft. Meyers."

I'm not certain there is a LAN/switch in the Ft. Myers area - The Layered
Map on the FADCA website shows a green circle at Port Charlotte, but there
is no detailed information there. I don't find any LAN listed south of
Arcadia in the database that I've been keeping for generating information
for Free to add to the map.

Certainly getting the network to Ft. Meyers/W4LX BBS would be a good first
step no matter. With a good-sized population in that area, we need an FPAC
that would provide the ham radio community with LAN coverage and then tie in
with the rest of the network- I assume through La Belle and/or Arcadia.

Meanwhile - Tom-KF4UTH - If you could add a Telnet port to the W4LX BBS that
would tie in with the network quickly and be another transport layer once we
can have a full switch/LAN there in the area. We presently have six BBS
that I know of that have Telnet ports.

Thanks for your quick response.

And from Tom KF4UTH

WA4EOC CALLED ABOUT YOUR INQUIRY ABOUT THE LOCAL BBS.
WHAT INFORMATION DO YOU NEED?
IT WAS NICE TO SEE YOU AT THE TAMPA HAMFEST.
UNFORTUNATELY I HAD TO LEAVE BEFORE THE FADCA MEETING, AS MY RIDE HAD A
PRIOR COMMITMENT.
