Thanks Russ - We must not lose track of managing the forest while grooming
the trees!
For those who may have only recently joined this e-mail group-
The purpose for the interactive map is to help neophytes get started with
their first network connection. If they have to wade through the forest to
find the right tree it is daunting. I can't find any relationship between
listings on the coordinated list of devices, including network switches,
and network node addresses, so even if the relationship is lurking there,
I doubt someone unfamiliar with packet and networking could find it.
The main FADCA mission is to coordinate frequencies/devices to minimize
mutual interference, much the same as the Florida Repeater Council (FRC).
Over the past six years those FADCA folks more active in networking
have promoted local ham radio communities (LANS/ARES, etc.) to utilize the
Florida Layered Packet Network for intrastate connectivity. This has
resulted in what now appears to be two separate FADCA data bases:
1. All devices needing to be coordinated
2. Switches/Nodes/LANs/BBSs on the Florida Layered Network
Switch managers need to keep both data sets up to date. Presently there is
no direct automatic link between the two data bases.
Maybe some day much of that can be automated. However that may be as much a
dream as someone relieving Russ and Free of managing the FADCA
coordination data base - a major task and labor for the Cause.
Thanks to Russ and Free for all the work on the coordination database and
the web site.
