[FADCA] Free, a question for you

Free, I was looking at the FADCA site, and notice that
at the bottom of the main page there is the little advert
for IE, is there anything gained by using IE over other
browsers to look at the FADCA site or is that something
that just gets stuck in there by the HTML formatter?

I try not to use IE whenever possible as it is such a
security violation, even at work I use Opera or Netscape
instead of IE unless I hit a site that is set up for IE
only and then I usually do not even worry about it.
Also when I am using LINUX as many hams do, there is no
version of IE for LINUX. I would think it would be better
to make sure the page is W3C (world wide web consortium)
compatible and have the W3C logo rather than the IE advert.

If the site is W3C compatible any browser should be able
to see it with no problems.

You can see the web page for W3C at the following address
www.w3c.org

My question is to we gain anything by advertising for MS?

The parts of the site I have looked at with Opera appear
to work just fine, but I have not looked at it all.
Opera is a W3C compliant browser and is good for checking
for that sort of thing.

I have to admin MS machines and I guess today MS bit me
one time too many... I just read the EULA for XP SP1
and Win2K SP3 and found out that by installing the service
pack I have just allowed MS total access to my computers
at work and they can change or remove anything at will without
my consent according to that EULA, so I have had to remove
the service pack off of several machines because if they
can do what they say they can do according to the EULA it
is a violation of company policy to have it on site. Our
legal eagles are not happy about it at all. LINUX and other
alternate OS's are looking better all the time.

Y'all forgive me if I am being a nitpicker but after today,
and after reading that EULA and having to do all of that
added work, I am not at all happy with MS.

If you are running XP or Win2K and have not done the SP for
either one of them, you can upgrade Win2K to SP2 without
running into that EULA, SP3 though is a different animal.

XP, if you attempt to upgrade with SP1 you will be presented
with the same nice little document read it very thoroughly
and THINK about what they are saying.
