BRIDGING THE GAP ALONG THE EAST COAST NETWORK
Today Charlie, N3PPC, and I braved the 100+degree / 300% humidity inside the
hut and installed a backbone/trunk port at Orlando FPAC (W4PLB-9) to link to
Melbourne (W4MLB-9). (We likely lost five pounds each, and Charlie can
hardly afford that!)
During the mid-day heat we had a solid 220 MHz link to #COA (X1-Jn) which
must be used as a digi (N4LEM-2) to link between FPACS W4MLB-9 and W4PLB-9.
This should mean we will have a 24/7 link between Orlando and Melbourne once
Melbourne FPACE is stable. Then we will have 24/7 network connectivity from
Jacksonville to Hollywood along the East Coast.
We will need to confirm/trim the routing tables at W4PLB-9 and DeLand
(N0IA-9), but so far I've not been able to find any problems.
We also established more accurate beam azimuths for the 220 beam to #COA and
the UHF beam to DeLand at Orlando. So far that appears to have paid off as
well.
