Yesterday the Orlando FPAC switch (W4MLB-8/9) was relocated to my QTH in =
Deltona. It is on a tri-band vertical at 80 ft. This places the switch =
about 13 miles north and 40-50-ft agl lower than the previous site. =
Coverage of the Orlando LAN (145.07) in Seminole County should not be =
affected, but coverage in the southern and eastern part of Orange County =
will be. Stations who can no longer reach the W4MLB-8/9 switch directly =
can try to digi through N3PPC in Sanford. Charlie has put his 145.07 =
port on the highest antenna he has.
The following stations are known to not be able to reach the new =
location or N3PPC:
KA4GDV Orlando BBS
KG4UXW Orlando LINUX BBS
KD4JIX
KE4INI
There are likely others who will be affected. Anyone who needs help in =
reaching the network should drop me a note. Be sure to include your =
location, power output, approximate antenna gain, and antenna height. =
Perhaps we can establish several digis to help the situation.
The backbone to DeLand FPAC is solid from this location. When the =
Orlando 220 backbone to Melbourne (via Cocoa) is repaired the link to =
Cocoa (#COA N4LEM-2) will be available only for about four to six hours =
in the early AM. I hope to have that backbone on later this week.
We will maximize efforts to find a permanent site for this important hub =
in the Florida Layered Packet Network. With any luck, it will be better =
than the previous site and cover Orange, Seminole and the northern part =
of Osceola Counties.
