I sent this message to Rick and Clayton the hard workers in Melbourne. I
also added a few choice CC:
I'm making a separate fadca list distribution as the fadca mailman requires
manual intervention when a message has a buncha ccs:

Hi, Rick and Clayton - (and all you on-lookers)
I've been extremely busy this week and have finally got some time to play
with the network this morning. From about 0515 through 0540 I tested
between the DeLand FPAC southward through to West Palm Beach and from the
DeLand FPAC north to JAX. The first thing this indicates is that the new
Melbourne FPAC is up and working fine! Good show, Rick and Clayton!
I used the 220 flat network through #COA (Cocoa), switched over to COA1 on
145.09 (MLB LAN) to get from DeLand to MLB FPAC. I also used the 220 flat
network to get from DeLand to Daytona Beach to start testing northward. So,
some of the slowness may be due to the flat network, as well as 145.09 is
really a flat network these days!
As a keyboarder I left a 196 word, 1000 character message on the WB4MOZ BBS
in W. Palm for Doug, WD4KGY. I also read it back successfully. Typical
turn-around time from my entering a command to a response from the BBS was
30 to 40 seconds.
Northward, I connected to the W4JAX-3 BBS. Typical turn around time for a
response to my command was 25-30 seconds but I did see one in 17 seconds.
I did not want to press my luck to go all the way to Hollywood, but I see no
reason why those last two nodes along the east coast would not have
participated.
The only weakness for 24/7 operations in the network along the east coast
that I know of is the link northward from Melbourne. This will be fixed
soon as I talked with Hal, KK1B, the OARC representative, last night and he
is working on getting our first site visit set up at the new ORL FPAC site.
While we may not have the entire network linked 24/7 for the official
beginning of this year's hurricane season, there is no area within 30-35
miles of the east coast that is not now covered with a LAN on the network.
Maybe we'll have it all linked together before the more threatening part of
the hurricane season is upon us.
Thanks to all who have worked so hard to plug these gaps and make
improvements.
