Russ,Doug,List,
I am sending these direct to you since you all need to see them.
List, where do you want them so the rest of you can take a look
at them?
In the Highland to Live Oak link the blue is the actual ray path
the red is the first fresnel zone, the large arc is the planetary
radius, and the ragged arc is the actual terrain. This is based on
NAD83 data.
As you can see the path is there but the first fresnel zone is down
in the weeds, so there will be fading. But for a amateur link this
is probably pretty good, most of the time the fade will be short and
you will just have a retry.
Live Oak to TLS is another issue. As you can see we are down below
the line of sight horizon by a good 300 ft. It may work due to scatter
but would be up and down real bad.
Looks like you need another site just about mid point to those two. I
am going to do a Site X plot putting Site X mid point.

"the only dumb question is the one you DID NOT ask resulting in my going out
and
having to identify your bits and pieces in the midst of torn and twisted
metal."
