Bill,

It is the Alphabet soup lingo WL2K uses for PMBO = Participating Mail Box
Operator (WL2K sysops) and CMBO = Central Mail Box Operator (Central server)
and NPMBO = Non Participating Mail Box Operators (other BBSs like FBB etc).
The attached TAPR/ARRL paper from 2000 DCC describes it all (a little out of
date but the basics are there).

There is (actually was) a parallel network donated and set up using the WL2K
CMBO and PMBO code for Army MARS but then they decided it needed to have
extra security features.... encryption authorization, message prioritization
and NATO compliance....but of course there was never any money to pay for
anything and there is a limit to donated free time!

Before anyone however gets too serious about setting up a parallel network
they should try and understand the existing system and see if it cannot work
for what is needed assuming it is amateur radio based. WL2K is currently
processing over 130,000 messages a month and running at a fraction of
current capacity.

I will be happy to explain the system and provide additional documentation
to anyone that wishes.
