Hi, Charlie:
Thanks so much for bringing us up to date on the OCALA switch. That 300 ft
antenna has caught my attention! What other switch(s) does OCALA link to on
446.075? Is it a WAN or a backbone?
I will soon be installing the DeLand FPAC at DeLand. (N0IA-9) I estimate
an MSL UHF antenna elevation there of 150+. From the 40 ft tower on top of
the 8th floor roof, I can see forever! The first four ports (all 1200b)
will be:
386334 441.050 backbone to Orlando (beam on tower)
386335 144.91 W. Volusia LAN on omni at 120 ft MSL
386336 440.050 backbone to DAB (beam on tower)
386337 223.420 WAN on omini at 100 ft MSL. (nnx code proposed)
Since DAB hears KQ4PP-7/6 in Ocala part of the time, I have hopes that
DeLand will be able to also - perhaps even more so since it is a tad
closer..though msl elevation is not as much.
If we could work Ocala on a uhf backbone with a beam, I would change the
223.420 port in a heart beat!
However, I'd prefer to have an FPAC switch to target near Eustis to get
further south into Lake County, then have that switch link with Ocala.
I have left sufficient physical space in the DeLand cabinet for six radio
ports. That said, I'd need to do some magic with irq/comport sharing to use
the last two!
Thanks again.. and good luck with the move and change to FPAC

Subject: [FADCA] KQ4PP ROSE Switches
Here are the particulars on one of the Ocala Stacks.
The AZ-EL for Munroe Regional Medical Center is :
N 29 degrees 10.598 min
W 82 degrees 08.329 min
The ROSE stack nodes are...
KQ4PP-5/4 352854 145.030 MHz.
KQ4PP-7/6 352351 223.420 MHz.
KQ4PP-9/8 352867 446.075 MHz.
All three radios share a single antenna which is approx 300' MSL.
As soon as the hosp finishes the construction of the new tower and the
equipment is moved the stack will be converted to FPAC.
