This is probably due to the fact that the data entry
needs to be in either DD:MM:SS.sss format or DD.dddd
format your data is presently in the DDMM.mmm format.
A different datum can put you several hundred feet off
but not that far off.
One other point of note, all of these programs require
that anything west of 0' Lon be negative, or you end up
over in india somewhere. Most of them also want to see
leading zeros when the Lon is a 1 or two digit number.
Yes, I have a lot of fun ahead of me. Will do the zips
first then attach the lat/lon data.
If you can supply it to me in the following format I
would be most appreciative. Here is my lat long in
the DD.dddd format
27.945 -082.392
If not the second preference is in the DDMM.mmm format
Here is a sample of a good one.
2655.730 -08221.733
This is Free's lat lon
Note that the degress and minutes are run together, that
is exactly how it comes out of the GPS in the NMEA string.
If you have a GPS you can probably tell it to output to your
screen in one of those formats, it maybe in the DDMM.mmm format
with the addition of the ' which is no big deal. Also if
you dump the NMEA data into a terminal program you will see the
position data in the $GPGGA and $GPRMC messages in the DDMM.mmm
format.
I am sorry I did not say this at the outset so as to avoid the
collection of all these formats.
