Hi, Tom:

We'll plan on providing a showing for you sometime soon... Your 2-month
advance notice would fit me pretty good.

We could look at June 25, July 23, or August 27 - That gives me time to get
my act together here - I have two full FPAC installs to make here and a two
week trip our of town in early July. We can work the details out later.

I will dig out two articles I've written about the layered networks and flat
networks. If you don't get those via e-mail by Saturday send me a reminder
as I'm out of pocket next week. You may use those as you please. Within a
month or two I will publish a Power Point presentation that I hope to have
available on the internet.

I favor the layered networks for local emergency communications at the
city/county level (LAN) with backbones connecting the adjacent lans on
different frequencies. Both SEDAN and APRS are flat networks - each on its
single frequency thorughout the state and beyond. While the layered network
would work as far as the switches/nodes exits, for long-haul transfers (say
250+ miles) I advocate HF ARQ transfers. My Mad Plan includes vhf/uhf
layered networks tied in with HF ARQ networks.

Some information could be helpful:

How many folks might be in attendance?
How many are digital/packet savvy?
How many might catch the bug?
What are the uses the individuals / grope foresee for digital?
What local VHF NODES/Networks are in the area now?

Sally and I will be visiting Sanabell April 15,16 and leaving for home the
morning of the 17th. Maybe we could meet somewhere near Ft. Myers on the
17th and chat over a cup of Joe if you are available. Otherwise, let me
know for sure what 2M repeater you hang out on and I'll plug that into the
mobile and give you a call once in a while.

Good to hear from you.
