[ETS/PARC List] K2DSV - Silent Key

Fellow ETS Members,

By now most of you have heard the very sad news that Don, K2DSV has become a silent key.  When I received the call this morning it was like someone hit me with a ton of bricks.  What a terrible loss for his wife Jean, our club and to all who knew Don personally.  It is certainly a  tough way for our club to start the new year.

Today I looked back on some of the many good memories I have of Don.  I will miss him referring to me as "Nothing But Confusion" or saying "Hey kid-O what are you up to" whenever I call.  I will miss sitting on his front porch drinking iced tea and just rag chewing when the weather was nice and Jean was working.  Some years back I was able to spend a whole day with Don in his shack.  Always an avid DXer, and with the QSL cards to prove it, Don took the time that day to teach me the proper method of digging out transmissions that were way down in the mud during a big CQ contest that weekend.  It is a method I still use to this day.  Don loved our club and we all benefited by his great technical knowledge.  I am proud to have been able to call Don a friend and I have just two simple words to describes him: "A Gentleman".

As Dan, KC2YRC said earlier - Please keep Jean and the family in your thoughts and prayers.

After battling cancer and other health issues for so long, may Don now "Rest in Peace".  He will be sorely missed.
