Things are so wacky right now. I have observed that the 2M repeater signal is weak. Please e-mail me with your observations. We may have a problem with the MIRAGE B108 power amplifier. If so, it will need to be replaced. We drive it with about 7watts for 50w out. Does anyone have a VHF amplifier? A HENRY repeater amp would cost about $700. A Chinese amp would be about $125 Len WB2HKK From mrpjf150 at gmail.com Sun Jun 7 12:40:31 2020 From: mrpjf150 at gmail.com (Pete Fierro) Date: Sun, 7 Jun 2020 12:40:31 -0400 Subject: [ETS/PARC List] 2M repeater signal In-Reply-To: <000001d63cca$ba6686b0$2f339410$@optimum.net> References: <000001d63cca$ba6686b0$2f339410$@optimum.net> Message-ID: Hi Len When I was out&about last night, there is a dramatic power drop on the repeater.Hope the repeater hasn't got COVID-19! I would advise having nothing to do with any Chinese equipment onsite. My experience running node radios with anything Chinese is that they are very substandard¬ meant for continuous duty. Two of my TYT radios burned up on Allstar on low power&even with a cooling fan blasting on the heatsink!Alincos saved the day I do have a very old Motorola VHF amp you can tinker with if you want.Got it at the Timonium hamfest years ago. We wont know whats up until we go onsite to see whats up. Amps from TE Systems are what I hear the best, better than a Henry&priced about the same.I know some repeater owners that have these amps&they are reliable http://tesystems.com/ Pete KD2ARB On Sun, Jun 7, 2020 at 8:54 AM Len Griffin wrote: > Hope everyone is healthy and safe. The crew was myself, Len, WB2HKK; Rich KB2LLM; and Pete KD2ARB. We arrived to find the Mirage B108 ( 10 in / 80 out ) amplifier had NO POWER. The power output to the antenna, measured on the Motorola service monitor, was a whopping .39 watts! Yep, only 390 milliwatts to the antenna, yet we all could still hear it! I removed the 15A fuse in the amp ( that did NOT seem blown ), and replaced it., The amp was then working. After a keydown for about 15 minutes, it again failed. The fuseholder itself was screaming HOT. I tried another fuse, with the same results.the fuseholder got VERY hot. Tapping on it made the amp fail momentarily. The decision was made to put the standby repeater tray on air. The output to the antenna is now 16watts, only about 3dB down from before. The right thing to do is put a real repeater amp in place. A HENRY amp ( 10w in / 100w out ) to match the 220 amp will be about $700.00. This will need to be approved by the officers. PS: We should get a crew up there soon to trim some branches that are over the FiOS lines.
