This is our last meeting before our annual ETS picnic on Sunday August 25th. Besides our regular meeting we will finalize any last minute picnic details. If we have time I will show a quick 15 minute video showing what is required to remove the existing power supply and associated components from a Kenwood TS-930. The UPS has died, so there was no power. Just plugged 'em into the outlet, and shazam! Without the UPS, the 2M REP-200 repeater will come back in carrier squelch on every power glitch, and local intermod will keep it keyed up. Rich elected to keep it off-air until a new UPS is installed. I have ordered an APC 600VA UPS from Amazon. PS: If all goes well, the 220 repeater will be back late tomorrow ( Monday ). Len WB2HKK From lengriff at optimum.net Tue Jul 30 16:54:21 2019 From: lengriff at optimum.net (Len Griffin) Date: Tue, 30 Jul 2019 16:54:21 -0400 Subject: [ETS/PARC List] K2ETS OFF-THE-AIR Message-ID: <001901d54718$f63c6cc0$e2b54640$@optimum.net> Today, at 1PM, Rich and I began a journey to the site to re-install the 220 repeater. There was another crew there working on the NJICS system, so we had to wait about 30 Mins. We mounted the 220, connected it to the Pi, I made 2 audio adjustments, and everything was done...mmmm...maybe not. I decided to shut the Pi down, and make an image file of the current system. This takes about 15 minutes. When the card READ was done, I began a WRITE to the spare card we keep there. Meanwhile, I re-inserted the sd card and re-booted the Pi. Nothing was working! The pi was booted fine, but Asterisk was NOT running? So we waited for the WRITE to complete on the spare card, then tried that one.same issue. 3 weeks ago, when we were removing the 220, I had made a card image then. I tried writing THAT image to an sd card..same results? Linux booted fine, but Asterisk would NOT run. Just baffling! So the 2M and 220 repeaters are down. I have the Pi and the 2 sd cards here for investigation. I just powered up the Pi here with the SAME sd card in it, and it just booted fine, asterisk running.no problems. I tried the spare sd card.booted just fine, Asterisk running! At this point I do not know what to say. We tried everything we could at the site and it would NOT run asterisk! When we go back, I'll bring another Pi, and another 5v supply. Right now, I cannot explain what happened! Meanwhile, the BACKUP 94 machine is also down because it needs a new UPS. I already purchased one, and have it here charging. We are going to remove the Hamtronics REP200 backup repeater, so I can make a mod to it. We have a Henry 40w amp to add, that gets driven with 2w. I will add 2 bnc's, 2w exciter out - 15w amp in. That way, I can use the 2w output to feed the Henry amp. If we ever need to return back to the internal amp, we just install a bnc jumper. 4 hours today.very frustrating! Len WB2HKK
