From w2ljqrp at gmail.com Mon Nov 5 18:55:58 2018 From: w2ljqrp at gmail.com (Larry Makoski) Date: Mon, 5 Nov 2018 18:55:58 -0500 Subject: [ETS/PARC List] Christmas Party and November Net Message-ID: All, A reminder that there will be NO November meeting, as our Club Christmas Party will be held on Friday, December 7th at 7:00 PM. As usual, pizza will be served so we need a head count in order to acquire the proper amount. Please respond to the list and let us know if you and any guests will be attending. As always, everyone is encouraged to bring along your favorite Holiday goodies to share with the group. While there is no meeting in November, there will be a special ETS Remembrance Net at 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 13th, This is the time of year that we remember friends and family who are no longer with us. Please check into the Net on the evening of the 13th to tell us your favorite story or memory of an ETS member who has gone on to the Big Shack in the Sky. If you're a Rookie and have no memories of past ETS members, please feel free to share a memory of an Elmer or mentor or special someone who has influenced your Ham Radio career. UPDATE -- We WILL have "Silent Auction" tables available this year, for small stuff that would aggravate the auctioneers! [but only Ham Radio related items, please.] How does Silent Auction work? You place your items on the Silent Auction table and fill out a form -- then people look over your stuff and enter a BID on the form ... if the next person wants to pay more for the item, they enter their higher bid next on the form. At intermission, we will go to the Silent Auction tables and announce the winning Bidder for each item. Don't worry about missing dinner -- we will have food, munchies and beverages to fill you up. Here is the full Auction flyer ... click on it to download a nice PDF. Bernd DL7APV worked 100 stations on 432 using both JT and CW with his 128 Yagi array last month during the second weekend of the contest. He has worked stations running as little as a few watts and a single Yagi. If you can, please try to work him at moonrise using JT65B. Anyone with a 432 beam and any decent power will be able to decode and work him. Moonrise in Philadelphia is at 5:24 PM on Friday at 66 degrees. On Saturday eve the moon rises in Philly at 6:13 at 63 degrees. You can work the moon through about 20 degrees elevation with even a single Yagi as it has lobes up there. Best to have your computer setup and running JT56B. You should also join the HB9Q EME logger https://logger.hb9q.ch/ and that will assist you in seeing what others are doing on 432 (and other bands). You can also sked with Bernd if possible at dl7apv at gmx.de > NC1I and HB9Q also have some of the biggest signals on 432 EME and can also be easily worked the same way. I'm trying to get more of you to make at least 1 EME QSO and this is the easiest way to do it. Please let me know your results.
