NASA confirmed an incredible discovery Tuesday ? that an amateur radio astronomer, on the hunt for a classified government satellite, stumbled upon signals from a spacecraft that had been thought lost 12 years earlier, raising hope that NASA can resurrect a mission that changed our understanding of the ?invisible ocean? around the Earth.

IMAGE was a machine designed to ?see the invisible,? as one of the mission's lead scientists once put it.

It was a squat and boxy thing, like many satellites, with a long technical name ? Imager for Magnetopause-to-Aurora Global Exploration ? that obscured its plain and noble purpose: to map the roiling sphere of electric gas around the Earth that protects us from the sun, and which we had never seen in full before.

As some of you may already know, the Bouvet Dxpedition has been cancelled.



Due to weather and ship engine problems, it was decided to abort.



They are on their way back to their departure port of Chile



We wish them a Safe return back.



There are talks of a reschedule in the works already. Stay Tuned

 NOT LOOKING GOOD AT ALL.  HASN'T EATEN ANTHING AND NOT DRINKING ANYTHING.

 HE WAS WHAT YOU MIGHT SAY "REALY OUT OF IT".  I DON'T KNOW IF HE REALLY NEW WE WERE THERE.

I AM SURE TIFFANY WILL KEEP US MORE INFORMED.

Grandpa has been in the hospital/rehab facility with multiple ailments...serious infection, blood clots in arms and legs, and was also diagnosed with non-Hodgkin?s Lymphoma.  Staging/testing underway.  All of this in a mere weeks.

- Grandpa is really struggling, weak, and uncomfortable physically.  He is failing rapidly.
- Physical condition does not match his mental capacity.
- He is weak, frail, and needs constant care.  He sleeps most of the day.
- He refuses to eat and drinks very little.
- We found biotene for dry mouth in gel and spray form.  It helps a bit.
- We bought him a hearing aid which does not seem to help too much even though it is supposed to amplify by 30x.
- We stocked up on water and cranberry juice but he refuses to drink.
- **Visitors would lift his spirits, but please do not delay.  He is declining rapidly.**

I am heading to the hospital now with my HT. Ian going to try and hit the repeater. While I can't say for sure if I can hit it or if I'll get thrown out for trying, it would be great if a few of you could monitor the repeater. I'm sure Walter would love to hear you. Unfortunately, he is unable to speak at this time.

- Drs who visited today:  GI, Infectious Disease Dr, Oncology.
- They are all trying to keep him stable.
- IV antibiotics.
- Temp is regulated.

    Hello all

        Yesterday,Joe W20Z0 went up to visit with Walter in the hospital
with his HT.He was unable to get into our repeater at all for the sole
purpose of having Walter to listen to well wishers that might have been
listening at that time.

      Effective immediately,my simplex node which is Echolink enabled will
be linked to the two meter K2ETS repeater until such time Walter is
discharged from the hospital.Any member visiting Walter&is desirous to tie
into the repeater can now do so on their smartphone.

     If you don't have Echolink,you can easily download it from Google play

Yes the email server has as a few quirks and they have been there for quite some time. I often only receive notifications that my message was received successfully. If one wants a copy I suggest you bcc yourself. 

Over the last few days I?ve received multiple messages from certain users with identical errors contents. Try not to get bent out of shape as it?s beyond our Control and messages aren?t being lost.

Minutes for the Meeting on January 28th 2018
Electronic Technology Society of New Jersey (ETS of NJ)

The Meeting was called to order by  President Vic Pennetta, K2NBC at 8:06
PM.  This was followed by the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and then
by self-introductions of all those in attendance.

Meeting Minutes
The minutes from the October meeting were successfully e-mailed. A motion
was made by WB2HKK and N2JUN to waive the reading of the minutes. The
motion passed unanimously.

Treasurer?s Report
Treasurer?s report as given by Dan KC2YRC.
Opening Balance - $    XXXX.32
Income -   50/50 - $XX (100% donated back by K2NBC),  50/50 - $XX (donated
back by W2OIL, Coffee Can $XXX.00, Member dues and donation $XXX.00
Deposit - $XXX.00
Regular Disbursements -  $XX.00 Bank Service Fee (3 months), $XXX.25
Verizon Payment (3 months), P{izza for holiday party $XXX.00
Closing Balance - $XXXX.07?  so we are $XXX.12 ?ahead? compared  to last
year.
A motion was made by W2OIL and seconded by N2JUN to accept the Treasurer's
Report. This was approved by the membership.

Correspondence
QSL Cards ? as well as an announcement for the Cherryville Hamfest on March
10th, 2018

Technical Report
The new 2 Meter Repeater is working well.  The new 220 repeater should be
installed in February. The tech net will be discontinued on Tuesdays,
Crackling issue ? Len has contacted the All Star team about is and is
getting rid of it via his ?fix? for now. Looking for permanent solution.

Old Business
Nominating Committee for Offcers & Directors for 2018 was formed ? W2WK,
KD2ARB, KC2PI

New Business
The K2ETS Website is down. Drew W2OU is working on figuring out the problem.

Health and Welfare
Drew W2OU was recently released from the hospital after a bout with the
flu. Mark W2ZJZ's mother recently passed away. Walter W2WIQ is back in the
hospital ? Overlook ? Room 420.

Adjournment
A motion was made to adjourn the meeting by N2JUN and was seconded by W2LJ
The meeting was adjourned at 9:01 PM

50/50 - $36 was won by WB2HKK and was donated back to the club.

Finally had a chance to get Echolink on my phone - a few curves to overcome but finally got there. Could not reach anyone on our ETS unit but did try a KG2H out of Saratoga Springs NY. Had a nice chat - he did not know much about Echolink on a smart fone but it was an accomplishment.73 and stay well, all!Ron R WV2RJR

    Great!The downloading is pretty straightforward.The settings tab on the
upper right hand corner has the settings that you need.Click network
connection,this has to be relay.Once you get it you are ready to go.

    Haven't tried Echolink via WiFi yet,have to determine a few
things.Echolink works well but it's frowned upon because the Audio
quality.It still works& it's good if you are on the road or outta range of
the repeaters.
