*** JOTA this weekend! ***
On October 20th and 21st, local area scouts will have the opportunity to participate in the largest "get together" of scouts around the world. The annual Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) is the largest scouting event in the world bringing together more than one million Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts from over 30,000 locations and 150 countries through the use of amateur radio.
We're fortunate that there will be *three* JOTA events in NNJ:
The Boy Scouts of America Northern New Jersey office located at 25 Ramapo Valley Road in Oakland, NJ. Hours of operation will be from 7PM-10PM and Saturday from 9:30AM-6PM. Contact is Gordon Beattie, W2TTT, email is w2ttt at arrl.net
Camp No-Be- Bos-Co - NNJC RVD Camporee, located at 11 Sand Pond Road in Hardwick, NJ. Hours of operation will be from Saturday October 21st from 8:00AM- 12:00PM. The contact is Scott Wylie, WY1LIE; email is scott at wylie.ws

*** Ria Jairam (N2RJ) Headlines FLARC October Speaker Series ***
As part of its 2017 Speaker Series, The Fair Lawn Amateur Radio Club will feature a presentation "YLs, SDR and Setting Up A World Class Station". Our speaker will be Ria Jairam (N2RJ), a world class contest operator and member of the Frankford Radio Club. Ria will be discussing the latest technology and offerings from Flex Radio, the HPSDR project (Ananradios), RTL-SDR and others, as well as practical tips for contesting, DXing and rag chewing using your SDR. She will also be giving a demo of SmartLink(tm) which is a revolutionary new turnkey solution for remote operation from FlexRadio Systems that allows remote operation of your home station from anywhere where you have a broadband Internet connection.
The presentation will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 starting at 7:00 PM at the Fair Lawn Senior Center, 11-05 Gardiner Road in Fair Lawn, NJ. The event is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
