It is sad news that W2QW, The RVRC repeater, is losing it's repeater site.
As we have discussed at our meetings, we need to have a plan should we lose
our current repeater site.
The backup site in Elizabeth works, but does not have the coverage of the
Watchung site.
As a charter member, I did extensive work for the Old Bridge repeater when
the group first formed.
I studied New Jersey and it's terrain from USGL maps, and know that for
good coverage, a repeater antenna must be above 220' above sea level.
To that end, I'd like to know if anyone on this list has an available
location that has an elevation of 220' ASL or more.
This may be you, or some close relative. At that elevation, a short mast or
tower would be all that is needed.
You can find your elevation these days from Google earth.
Ask around, see if anyone in your circles might have an available location.
I'm sure the RVRC is doing the same right now.
Any location would need to have electric and a way to get Internet access.
Please get back to me if you know of a site. I'm sure the ETSNJ would be
willing to pay for electric and expenses.
