From vpennetta at pennetta.com Fri Dec 1 13:10:19 2017 From: vpennetta at pennetta.com (Victor Pennetta) Date: Fri, 1 Dec 2017 18:10:19 +0000 Subject: [ETS/PARC List] For Sale - Icom IC-7200 Message-ID: I have a mint like new Icom IC-7200 for sale. My personal radio purchased new from Gene KJI and only has a few operating hours on it. Included is the hand mike, power cord, manual, unopened accessory bag and original box. It was purchased for my shore house but shortly after I bought a TS-940 that came available from friend of mine. The performance with the DSP filters for the price is really good and being splash resistance makes it a great rig for field day. Price $600 - would make a nice present for the holidays. I included some info below from Universal Radio's website: The Icom IC-7200 is a robustly built amateur transceiver providing coverage of HF amateur bands plus 6 meters. Power is 100 watts. Features include easy-to-use controls, DSP filtering with 51 passband widths, digital twin passband tuning, manual notch filter, keypad entry, dual VFOs, large display, voice synthesizer, 201 memories, 20 dB attenuator, preamp, 6 kHz roofing filter, RIT, scanning, 1 Hz step tuning and more! The excellent general coverage receiver tunes from 30 kHz to 60 MHz. The meter displays Power/SWR/ALC. Power is 2 to 100 watts (40 watts AM). Although the IC-7200 is not waterproof, extra design steps have been applied to the front panel buttons and knobs. This provides a measure of protection against water intrusion. There is even a USB port on the rear panel. This radio comes with an HM-36 hand mic, OPC-1457 DC power cord and spare fuses. 73, Victor, K2NBC From mrpjf150 at gmail.com Tue Dec 5 14:55:10 2017 From: mrpjf150 at gmail.com (Pete Fierro) Date: Tue, 05 Dec 2017 19:55:10 +0000 Subject: [ETS/PARC List] East Coast Reflector Tech Net In-Reply-To: <1997021917.2118798.1512498877209@mail.yahoo.com> References: <75ff6615633cca116c01ab5e6.22bc561cdf.20171204131325.119624009a.f8ef4fcc@mail121.sea61.rsgsv.net> <1997021917.2118798.1512498877209@mail.yahoo.com> Message-ID: Tonight on the K2ETS 220 repeater. Just a reminder that tonight we will be having the club's annual holiday party at the Clark Municipal Building starting at 7:00 PM. The weather forecast looks good - maybe a little cold outside but it will be warm and toasty inside. No meeting tonight just a nice social time between club members, friends and family. We also have a few nice raffle gifts to give away. Looking forward to seeing everyone tonight. 73, Victor, K2NBC President, ETS of NJ From crfine at aol.com Fri Dec 8 12:23:35 2017 From: crfine at aol.com (Christopher Fine) Date: Fri, 8 Dec 2017 12:23:35 -0500 Subject: [ETS/PARC List] LED replacement light bulbs and RFI Message-ID: <947EC2FF-A32A-4160-A2CF-1487F49A1CB0@aol.com> Hi all and looking forward to seeing you this evening! Just sharing an experience with RFI, which might be useful if you encounter unexplained behavior that appears to result from RFI. I recently installed an LED bulb - standard 60W replacement, decent brand - in my garage door opener. This promptly impacted the performance of the remote transmitters in both cars. I didn?t relate the two things at first, because it didn?t totally kill the system - just made performance highly intermittent. I thought it was the batteries in the transmitters, so I replaced both sets. The problem persisted. I did some research online and found a flowchart for debugging garage door radio control problems. Working down the flowchart, I replaced the bulb with an old-school incandescent, and the problem went away. Further research revealed that the garage door opener manufacturers recommend avoiding CFL and LED bulbs. There are certain types of bulbs that are stated OK, but only a few of the more expensive ones. The openers operate in the range of 333 MHz. The bulb sits close to the radio module. I?m guessing the module isn?t well shielded, and nowadays the opener case isn?t metal on the sides. So either conducted or radiated RFI could get through. The bulb is right next to the antenna, too. Moral of the story is - definitely this applies to garage door openers, but might be relevant to other environments too, like the shack. I have no idea what the radiation coming out of these bulbs actually looks like, at least in the case I found, but whatever it is has enough nasty harmonics to impact a VHF system. I?m certainly going to check for bulb-related issues if I encounter RFI in the home again. QST had an article about this awhile ago, and they basically gave the bulbs a clean bill of health, but buyer beware: http://www.arrl.org/files/file/RFI/Light_Bulbs.pdf Anyone else had this experience? 73, Chris KC2PI From k2dsv at msn.com Sat Dec 9 08:42:28 2017 From: k2dsv at msn.com (Don WILSON) Date: Sat, 9 Dec 2017 13:42:28 +0000 Subject: [ETS/PARC List] Fw: Online Specials at GigaParts.com In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Subject: Online Specials at GigaParts.com [https://gallery.mailchimp.com/cfb20591b6380e9cecca3eafa/images/cbd6145e-b840-41d1-8aad-20fd470d521b.jpg] Trouble viewing this email?
