*** Scouting Solar Eclipse Viewing event ***
Monday, Aug 21st there will be a Solar eclipse. Boy Scout Troop 159 ( http://olqptroopandpack159.org/ ) is planning a viewing event at Wallish Farms in West Milford. All Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts are invited to attend. Scott Wylie, WY1LIE, will be setting up an HF station and participating in the SEQP ( http://hamsci.org/solar-eclipse-qso-party ) demonstrating amateur radio and promoting citizen science. The science part if the SEQP fulfills a requirement for a STEM award. Girl Scouts will be encouraged to explore the ARRL Radio and Wireless patch ( http://www.arrl.org/girl-scouts-radio-patch ) while Boy Scouts will be informed about the Radio Merit Badge. Please tell any Scout troops you are affiliated with and also please consider helping out at the event. Scouts attending will earn the BSA Eclipse Award http://www.scouting.org/eclipse2017.aspx This should be a fun few hours in a relaxed environment!

*** Posters ***
I'm excited about the new posters the League has made available! ( http://www.arrl.org/pr-posters ) These are a by-product of the League's participation in the Boy Scout Jamboree. The PDF of all six posters in the series is available for download. They were originally designed to be printed on 11x17 paper but look really sharp when printed on 8.5x11 photo paper. If you're having a public event consider printing out a few and displaying in a tabletop frame. ( http://nnj.arrl.org/media/poster.jpeg )
*** Section website ***
The OFFICIAL section website is ready and can be found at http://nnj.arrl.org/ This is an alternative place to get breaking information if you don't do the FACEBOOK or TWITTER thing. This will also be the home for resources (files, photos, links) produced by the Section Cabinet.
*** ARES NEWS ***
>From John, W2VTV SEC ARES:
We have noticed that many amateurs in the Section have completed the Emergency communications classes. If you have not registered with ARES, we invite you to come on board. To simplify the process, the ARES registration form, FSD98, can be downloaded at ( http://nnj.arrl.org/media/fsd98.pdf ). You can fill in the form using Adobe Acrobat. When complete, "save as" with your call. Email it to me at: NNJSEC at gmail.com. I will forward it to your county DEC. You will be added to the Section ARES email list with reminders of upcoming nets, exercises and events. Hope to hear from you, 73 John
