We are currently experiencing an increase in the number of
illegal operators on our local repeaters.
Do not engage them in any way. It is best to simply end your conversation,
and return later or QSY to another frequency.
In extreme instances, the repeater may be disabled for a period on time. Do
not panic, it's not that important.
Ham radio is a secondary service in the eyes of the FCC. As
such, it does not warrant much attention.
However, we are a valuable communication resource in the event of a
disaster, and that is where we may be
able to gain some traction. If these jammers are not pursued, then they very
possibly may interrupt emergency
communication when it is most needed.
Perhaps if there were some arrests across the country, and there
was lots of publicity in the media and social media,
the problem would subside.
